We were commissioned by the British Academy to survey a total of 500 young people aged 11-18 across the four nations of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales on the theme of childhood and interactions between ‘the state’ and childhood. Questions were largely closed in nature and were themed according to one of the following categories:
- Education
- Health and welfare
- Rights and responsibilities
- Child protection
- Youth justice
- Perceptions of ‘the state’
