Fergal graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast in 2015 with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. He served as President of NUS-USI for two years following his graduation, representing the interests of approximately 200,000 students across Higher and Further Education in Northern Ireland during a period which saw two NI Assembly elections, a snap Westminster election and the 2016 EU Referendum.
Based in Belfast, Fergal has an interest in the role of education in improving people’s life chances and has also been a leading campaigner for Marriage Equality in Northern Ireland.
Fergal is 25 years old, currently serves as the President of the Queen’s Graduates’ Association and after a brief period working for Belfast Metropolitan College now works for Stonewall, the UK’s leading LGBT rights charity.
