As Policy and Research Analyst, Claire provides a link between policy and research, ensuring that all research NCB produces is policy-relevant and timely, and can directly influence changes in policy and practice.
Claire has worked at NCB for seven years – prior to this, she worked at the Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education and the Civil Service.
Claire has recently supported the Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland to write an Infant Mental Health Framework and Action Plan. She has also developed an e-Safety Strategy for children and young people in Northern Ireland on behalf of the Safeguarding Board Northern Ireland.
Alongside her role at NCB, Claire has been studying part-time; she gained a Masters in Social Research in 2011 and has just finished year two of a Doctorate in Childhood Studies, where her interests lie in early child development and education.
Claire’s a night-in kind of girl: her ideal Saturday evening involves a glass of wine, a wee bar of Dairy Milk, a colouring book and a nice sharp pack of coloured pencils.
“It’s really rewarding to see NCB’s work make a difference to the lives of children and families through direct engagement with policy makers, practitioners and of course children and young people themselves, who remind us regularly of why we do what we do.”
